This is the story of Gerard!
Patroness of Mothers
Gerard's story took place long ago. Gerard was a devoted son to his widowed mother. He cared for her until she died. Although Gerard was not an ordained priest, he was a Lay Brother. Some of the priests and clerics initially kept Gerard at a distance because he possessed some "oddball" qualities, such as being "bilocational" which meant he was able to be in two places at one time. The true religious leaders saw this as quite a skill and soon Gerard was assigned duties as spiritual counselor to religious women and pregnant mothers, whom he often aided in childbirth. Gerard was also known for his ability to converse with animals, read minds and predict the future. He became famous for flying half a mile long before airplanes were a gleam in the eye of the Wright Brothers. Gerard informed his followers of the precise date and hour of his death and was a miracle maker and wonder worker. He is known as the Patron Saint of Mothers which is not surprising - their children often expect them to be clairvoyant and in several places, all at the same time.
