The Saints are the Sinners who Keep on Trying - Robert Louis Stevenson
This is the story of Winifred of Wales!
Patroness of Cleansing, Healing & Fluidity
Invoked for Reification
Winifred's story took place long ago in the 7th Century. She was a beautiful woman who chose chastity over romance and wanted only to feel reverently married to the Lord. The evil and relentless Caradog of Hawarden had other plans for Winifred and wanted her for his bride. Winifred rejected him and secluded herself in a local church. Caradog found her and when she rejected him yet again, he cut off her head. When Winifred’s head hit the ground, a giant spray of water sprung, emitting healing waters that cured leprosy, skin ailments and other diseases. Saint Beuno then came down from the heavens and resurrected Winifred who happily went off and became a Nun in Deubigshire. The tale of Winifred shows us that abstract thoughts and ideas can sometimes become concrete, thus enabling us to re-create, or reify ourselves from time to time. Wear our Saint Winifred when the saint you need is unavailable. Saint Winifred will help turn your abstractions into realities. [ For Winifred, © 11.03.2006 ] |
